Explanation about 5S, 5W, 5W1H and FMEA - 7

Guys just have a look at following definitions explained herewith. These are being used in TPM concept and ISO TS 16949 System.

Five-S:

Five-S is a systematic fundamental technique for improvement activities in Housekeeping, Inventory Control etc.

1. S – Seiri: means Sort Out
2. S – Seiton means Rearrange
3. S – Seiso means Cleanup
4. S – Seiketsu means Maintain
5. S – Shitsuke means Discipline


Five – W?

Five – W, means asking “Why?” five times, to a problem situation to go the root cause of the problem.

5W1H?

5H1H means asking “Why”, “What?”, “Where?”, “When?”, “Who?” and “How?” to define, analyze and also to plan countermeasures on a given problem. If we used this tool adequately then I am sure that it can be proved as a very good friend of everyone.

FMEA:

Failure Mode Effective Analysis has been developed in the aerospace industry and rapidly adopted by the automotive industry, failure mode effective analysis (FMEA) has proven to be a useful and powerful tool in assessing potential failures and preventing them from occurring.

FMEA is a group-oriented, structured, and stepwise approach to quantifying the effects of possible failure, thus allowing a company to set priorities for action.
