All we can see such type of situation everywhere around us.

Can anybody tell me how much byte in 1GB? Is it 1,000,000,000 Bytes? Yeah! 1GB = 1,000,000,000 Bytes. Such tremendous spaces you can get keep your data in such tiny gadget. But many times we never get exact 1 GB space as it denotes 1 GB Pen Drive. Around 0.93GB is the space availability in 1GB Pen Drive. Then what about remaining bytes? You know what? How to prevent your PEN drive from VIRUS

Guys, viruses are true enemies of our systems. Doesn't matter it may be the human (you have to just think over it). Many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (even PC's who are not connected to network). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time.

1. Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer.

2. Now a interlocutory window will pop up and asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure. Don't choose any of them, Just simply click Cancel.

3. Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window.

4. Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive

e.g. If it is written Kingston (I:)

then I: will be the drive letter

5. In the Command Window (cmd) , type the drive letter: and Press Enter

6. Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Press Enter

You will get a list of files.

In the list, search if anyone of the following does exist.

i) Autorun.inf
ii) New Folder.exe
iii) Bha.vbs
iv) Iexplore.vbs
v) Info.exe
vi) New_Folder.exe
vii) Ravmon.exe
viii) RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension

7. If you find any one of the files above, Run the command

attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Press Enter

8. Now Delete each file using the following Command del filename (e.g del autorun.inf ).

That's it!

Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus. Please ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Viruses.

The gadget world : Memory Stick : PC exteriors - 1

Almost people know about Pen Drive. Pen drives have become so common place and so varied in designs, I have even noticed one that brings off to make a play on words on it's name by actually doubling as a pen. Yes, it is a flash memory device, it can hold up only a limited number of write and erase cycles before failure. Mid-range flash drives under normal conditions will support several hundred thousand cycles, although write operations will gradually slow as the device ages. Howerver, at the rate memory sticks are expanding in size, it will probably be time to replace the drive even before it is necessary. Another quality of being a hindrance is because of its size they are easier to misplace or lose.

Keep an eye on your flash drive, or at least, add it to your key chain. From so many days I have used Transcend pen drives that starts from Rs. 300 for 1GB of storage and Rs. 400 for 2GB. A 32 GB drive however, costs Rs. 3,400.
