What are the Lead Auditor's Activities in ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality Management System?

The Lead Auditor should :

1. Define the requirements of each audit assignment, including the required auditor qualifications.

2. Comply with applicable auditing requirements and other appropriate directives.

3. Plan the audit, prepare working documents and brief the audit team.

4. Review documentation on existing quality system activities to determine their adequacy.

5. Report critical nonconformities to the auditee immediately.

6. Report any major obstacles encountered in performing the audit.

7. Report on the audit results clearly, conclusively and without undue delay.

What are the Responsibilities of AUDITOR?

Auditor are responsible for :

1. Complying with the applicable audit requirements.


2. Communicating and clarifying audit requirements.

3. Planning and carrying out assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

4. Documenting the observations.

5. Reporting the audit results.

6. Verifying the effectiveness of corrective actions taken as a result of the audit (if required by the client)

7. Retaining and safeguarding documents pertaining to the audit.

7.1 submitting such documents as required

7.2 ensuring such documents remain confidential

7.3 treating privileged information with discretion

8. Cooperation with and supporting the Lead Auditor.

What are the Responsibilities of LEAD AUDITOR?

The Lead Auditor is ultimately responsible for all phases of the audit. The Lead Auditor should have management capabilities and experience and should be given authority to make final decisions regarding the conduct of the audit and any audit observations.

The Lead Auditor’s responsibilities includes:

1. Assisting with the selection of other audit team members.

2. Preparation of the AUDIT PLAN.

3. Representing the AUDIT TEAM with auditee’s management.

4. Submitting the AUDIT REPORT.

Auditors should be free from bias and influences which could affect objectivity.

All persons and organizations involved with an audit should respect and support the independence and integrity of the auditors.
